And that’s the tone she aims to create in the salon as well — both for stylists and clients. The salon’s mission statement: happiness has a ripple effect that can bring beauty from the inside out. “All day long, we help people feel good about themselves. It’s not just about getting a haircut, it’s about sharing and connecting, too.”
As she’s built her business, she’s created a collective where stylists can grow their entire careers. “I hire for life,” says Kay. “And I have the best trained staff in Austin.”
Kay loves being mom to Natalie, 16, and Sean, 19. She’s an Austin native, UT graduate, feminist, lifelong recycler and true-blue Aveda lover.
When she’s not in the salon, she loves spending time with her boyfriend, whom she calls “the king of romance,” gardening, watching British TV, and traveling. Her favorite destinations include the Caribbean, Colorado, Michigan and Galveston, where she has a vacation home. She can frequently be spotted at a Bob Schneider show, or playing her own music — after 15 years of guitar lessons, she can play a mean “Blowin’ in the Wind.”

Read about Angelia
Angelia’s salon career began in 1998 managing the front desk of the Michael Raymond Salon, an Aveda Concepts salon in Dallas, Texas. She quickly realized she was meant to be behind the chair. After moving back to her home town of Austin and graduating from Baldwin Beauty School in 2004, she went on to complete a full apprenticeship at Maximum FX Salon on South Congress. She spent the next several years honing her skills in hair cutting, coloring, styling, and heat fusion extensions.
Earning accreditation on IMDb, she has had the opportunity to work in television and the music industry styling hair for actors and musicians for various filming projects. In her opinion, however, everyone that sits in her chair is a star.
When she doesn’t have her hands in hair, she spends most of her free time either with her kids or doing various projects at home, be it cooking, sewing, gardening, or just Netflix and chilling with her boyfriend and their 3 dogs Omen, Waylon, and Willow.
Angelia has a knack for winning over her clients with her professional hair skills, and her warm, relaxed personality make every hair appointment feel like a fun hang out with a friend.
